Garnett went on the 35 city H.O.R.D.E. Tour in 1997 and painted a brand new Chevy Metro on the side of the stage as the bands played every day that summer. Neil Young headlined, Beck, Blues Traveler, Morphine, The Fiji Mariners, Primus, Ween, Leftover Salmon and 15 other bands played to 20,000 fans at every venue. Garnett's two handpainted cars went into the GM Museum and were on display in 1997 after the tour ended.
This was Garnett's first and last tour, a swansong of sorts, after having moved away from music industry art after college. John Popper from Blues Traveler called him in as thanks for years of dedicated service to the successful band.
